"A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood" Provides a Breath of Fresh Hope

This is a film that is necessary for all to see. It's a beacon of hope and a love letter to the late great Fred Rogers.

Marielle Heller brings us one of the more creative biopics about a figure who was the voice of upcoming generations over the years, on and off-screen. A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood focuses on the impact of Mr. Rogers, even outside the studio and cameras.

Tom Hanks played Mr. Rogers to perfection. This is the classic case of an actor who didn't look like the real-life person he portrayed, but the quality of the performance more than makes up (see Michael Fassbender in Steve Jobs, 2015). The Lloyd character (Matthew Rhys) is all of us; with our own issues in life and how meeting someone like a Mr. Rogers can shape the way we look at life.

It's truly a film to feel good, mostly because of its tenderness and positive vibe. With that, I say: To more people like Mr. Rogers.

My score: ★★★★½
