Batman: A Legacy Summary

Here is my take on Batman. Most updated one.

Batman in Films

Writing about the Caped Crusader is one of the most complex and exciting things for me. I know, it’s confusing, right? It is complex, not because of the psychological component of the vigilante, but because it is hard for me to make a definitive decision on rankings. It is one of my favorite things to do because I adore this superhero. To say he is my favorite superhero of all time is an understatement. Let me just share with you that my first experience in a movie theater ever (thanks to my awesome parents ) was with Tim Burton’s Batman in 1989. I have an emotional connection with Batman in films. So when a Batman film sucks, it hurts me (nervous laugh). But I am no troll that tries to fight everyone who thinks differently about me. I have to say usually when a Batman film is released, for me, it's a celebration. So with this list, I will try to share all: my favorite Batman villains, most successful Batman films (box office) favorite Batman, and best Batman movies. This last one has a spin because my pals from For Films’ Sake shared with me their own respective top 3. So….in the voice of the iconic villain: “And here we go..."

Best Batman Villains:

  1. The Joker (Heath Ledger): N only one of the best superhero movie villains, but arguably one of the best in film.

  2. Catwoman (Michelle Pfeiffer): Should have been nominated for an Oscar. Sexy, witty, menacing, and great character arc.

  3. Riddler (Paul Dano): Sinister, horrifying, and nightmare-inducing performance. Paul Dano owned every single scene he was in The Batman.

  4. Penguin (Danny DeVito): Scary, disturbing, funny; all those accolades make this an incredible and memorable role for DeVito.

  5. Bane (Tom Hardy): No other has been as physically threatening as Bane was for Batman. Breaking his back? Oh yes, he did.

Most Succesful Batman movies (Global Box Office):

  1. The Dark Knight Rises (2012): $1.081 billion

  2. The Dark Knight (2012): $1.038 billion

  3. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016): $873.6 million

  4. Batman (1989): $411.6 million

  5. Batman Begins (2005): $379.7 million

Best Batman (in movies):

  1. Michael Keaton (Batman and Batman Returns): He was my first Batman and I only will say that as the Caped Crusader, he was the most badass. Oh, wait. Still, we will have him back in the suit this year in The Flash.

  2. Christian Bale (The Dark Knight Trilogy): Best Bruce Wayne. I loved two things about his Batman: his relationship with Alfred (Michael Caine) and all his gadgets.

  3. Robert Pattinson (The Batman): This is THE BATMAN. Period.

  4. Adam West (Batman: The Movie): Can’t say enough about how much fun you have with this Batman. Cartoonish? Yes, but he embodies the definition of FUN!

  5. Ben Affleck (BvS, The Suicide Squad, Justice League, and Zack Snyder’s Justice League): Let me just say that Batfleck has one of the most badass fighting sequences of any Batman film in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. His physique was impressive.
