My Top 5 Most Anticipated Movies of 2020

NOTE: This is Kathy's first entry on For Films' Sake.

5. A Quiet Place 2 (dir. John Krasinski)

A Quiet Place was a fantastic directorial debut for John Krasinski. The idea was original, and the movie was intense from beginning to end, even when the dialogue was almost non-existent. The sequel has a lot of potential because Krasinski will return to write and direct, and it will continue the story with the same cast as the first one. The story will be focused again on the Abbott family fighting for survival in the outside world as they discover new threats.

4. Black Widow (dir. Cate Shortland)

This movie should have been made like a decade ago, but at least Black Widow is finally getting her own movie like she always deserved. We don’t know for sure what the story is about, but the premise reportedly will be after the events of Civil War in 2016. Nevertheless, I look forward to knowing more about the background story of Natasha Romanoff.

3. Tenet (dir. Christopher Nolan)

Christopher Nolan’s next movie looks like another science-fiction, time-altering thriller movie like Inception, with a fantastic cast that includes John David Washington, Michael Caine, and Robert Pattison just to name a few. There isn't an official synopsis, but word is that the film is about "two international spies that are sent to stop World War III using a technology called time-reversal". I am so ready for Nolan to mess with my mind again as he did with Memento, Inception, and Interstellar.

2.  Mulan (dir. Niki Caro)

I watched the animated movie as a kid and have always loved it. Mulan’s story is darker and deeper than most of the other Disney’s animated movies, as it touched many important and mature subjects like war, arranged marriage, and sexism. If there is an animated film that I always thought should be remade into a live-action, it was Mulan. The animated film was impressive, so I can imagine how spectacular it would be with today’s visual effects and the fact that the whole cast is Asian makes it more realistic.

1. Wonder Woman 1984 (Patty Jenkins)

Wonder Woman is still, in my opinion, the best movie from the DC Universe, so it’s understandable why there’s a lot of expectation for this sequel. The movie is set in 1984; as an 80’s music enthusiast, that’s enough reason to look forward to it. I'm also excited to see Diana Prince again kicking some ass and I want to know what happened to the character of Steve Trevor and how is he alive in 1984. I'm curious to learn more about the Cheetah character who is played by Kristen Wiig.
