The Lighthouse is a wacky, pipe dream of a trip that leaves us wondering what the past two hours were once one gets up from their seat at the theater.

Willem Dafoe and Robert Patterson were strikingly magnetic as the leads. They were feeding off each other and dueling one another line after line. You just couldn't take your eyes off either if them.

This is a top film for 2019 in terms of cinematography and sound. Just a beautiful picture and eerie sound made for a haunting ambiance.

This film shows the madness of two men left alone on an island the dysfunctional dynamic of that relationship. Both characters seem like what you think of when you read an old novel. The literary vibe is strong in this Robert Eggers film.

My score: ★★★★
